I'm interning at The Herald for the next six months in a little town called Jasper, IN. Life moves a little more slowly here, but I'm excited to see what opportunities unfold as I learn more about the community.

Holland Volunteer firefighters pulled down a wall while monitoring a structure fire Saturday morning on West Ohio Street in Holland. The fire department, Indiana State Police and Dubois County Sheriff’s Department responded to the fire call as flames engulfed the garage and outbuilding.

Vietnam veteran Ron Himsel of Jasper looked at the flag after he returned it to full-staff on Friday afternoon at his home in Jasper. Himsel gathered outside his home with friends and family after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States to watch the flag return to full-staff. For the last seven and a half years, Himsel had flown the flag at half-staff to silently protest former President Obama after his World Tour where he apologized for America to other countries, Himsel said. "The Trump message today is what I believe in," Himsel said. "It's about 'We the People' and not our politicians."
